Think Spring in the New Bandstand

In no time at all, we'll be enjoying our green parks again, like these children in Cuba City's bandstand, circa 1915.

Built in 1911, the bandstand was still a relatively new addition to the park at the time this photograph was taken. The following article appeared in Lancaster's Grant County Herald to announce the new structure, which was located in today's Veterans Memorial Park:

"Cuba City has long been noted for its interest in affairs musical. The construction of a fine new cement band stand in the center of the village park is the latest effort of the council toward helping the band along. The firm of R. F. Conlon & Co. are doing the cement work. When finished the band-stand will be an ornament to the town." -- Grant County Herald (July 5, 1911)

The Cuba City Military Band performed in this small structure before a larger band shell was built in 1934.
