A Hallmark Valentine
This lovely Hallmark date book was offered to customers of the Schroeder and Taber Department Store in 1951. Calendar and address book in one, it encouraged customers to stock up on their Hallmark Valentines in February and on other needed greeting cards throughout the year.
Schroeder and Taber shared a building with Donohoo Furniture Store on Main Street in Cuba City. Antiques & Salvage currently occupies this space.
In 1946, Dillon Donohoo sold the grocery and dry goods side of his business, located on the building's first floor, to Ed Schroeder, while Donohoo continued to sell furniture, appliances, and linoleum on the second floor. Russell Taber joined Schroeder by 1948 and the pair worked together in their department store until 1956, when Taber moved to Fennimore and Ed Schroeder moved into his own building on North Main Street, where Hometown Pharmacy is today.
