Cuba City Gets a Zip Code

As many of you know, Cuba City's zip code is 53807, but it wasn't until 1963 that zip codes were assigned to communities across the United States. The ZIP (Zone Improvement Plan) code was introduced to allow for automated mail sorting and faster mail delivery.

The following announcement appeared in the Tri-County Press on June 20, 1963:

New Cuba City Zip Code is 53807

Cuba City's 5 digit zip code is 53807, Postmaster Basil Faherty announced. Everyone in Cuba City will use the Zip Code on all their correspondence to speed up mail deliveries and reduce the chance of mis-sent mail. It is important all Cuba City residents learn the Zip Code and use it in their return address on all correspondence. This will cut off up to 24 hours in delivery time.
