Cook Bros. Towing the Line
Thank you to Chris Case for sharing this photograph of the Cook Bros. tow truck in action! Chris would love to learn more about the truck, especially if it might still be out there somewhere.
The Cook garage was opened by Charles A. Cook in January 1920. It was initially located south of the railroad station (behind Antiques & Salvage) and later moved down Main Street to where Hughes Body Shop is today (across from Thompson's IGA).
On January 14, 1927, the Cuba City News-Herald reported that "Cook Bros. have built a crane for their service truck to facilitate the 'home-coming' of auto wrecks."
As for the automobile being towed, it bears the name of Harry F. Andrew, Cuba City businessman and real estate dealer.
