The Fourth of July that Wasn't

In stark contrast to its mammoth Independence Day celebration in 1920, Cuba City's Fourth of July festivities fizzled the following year--one hundred years ago. Though an upcoming Independence Day event was teased months in advance in the local newspaper (see below), the Cuba City planners bowed out to avoid competing with neighboring communities.
