Cuba City Remembers the Fallen

Memorial Day in Cuba City one hundred years ago was a community affair. The American Legion appealed to automobile owners to help them transport veterans of the Civil War, Spanish American War, and First World War to the Mount Pleasant and St. Rose cemeteries, where they would pay tribute to fallen soldiers and decorate their graves. The veterans were accompanied by the Ladies' Auxiliaries, the Military Band, and interested Cuba City citizens. The cemetery visits were followed by a patriotic program of speeches and music held at the city park.
