A Glimpse Inside the Fiedler Store

Ever wonder what it might be like to stroll down the Main Street of yesteryear, step into a shop, and see what you find? Wonder no more! The priceless photographs that follow were taken in the 1920s and 30s inside the Fiedler Store, located on the corner of Main and Webster Street, where Gile Real Estate and Insurance is today. Thank you to Rachel Butts for sharing these photos from her grandmother, Lillian (Heitkamp) Kirk, who worked at the Fiedler Store for many years and appears in several of the images.

Brothers Harold and Paul Fiedler began operating the store in 1919, and it stayed in the family for decades. This image of the store interior was published in the Cuba City Centennial history in 1975.
