From First National to Nicolet National

It was recently announced that MidwestOne Bank, currently operating in the former Cuba City State Bank building at 100 N. Main, will be acquired by Nicolet National Bank, based in Green Bay.

The first bank on this block in Cuba City was opened on the corner of Main and Clay Street under the name First National Bank in 1907. The bank itself dated back to 1900 and was originally located across the street, where Antiques Unlimited is today.

In 1928, the Cuba City State Bank acquired the First National and operated in that spot until 1978, when the old building was razed and the current bank was built behind it. In 1998, the Cuba City State Bank was sold to AmTrust and later went by the name American Bank before it became MidwestOne.
