Snowbound in 1971

Though the snow is falling now in Cuba City, it will likely not reach the magnitude of this February 1971 snowstorm that saw railroad service suspended for 13 days. The storm hit on the evening of February 4, bringing snow, freezing rain, and strong winds that lasted into the following morning.

These photos by Ray Barth capture the dramatic attempts to restore railroad service after the winter storm. The images were published in local newspapers, including the Telegraph Herald and Wisconsin State Journal.
