Cuba City Harp Orchestra

Billed as the "finest dance orchestra in the west," the Cuba City Harp Orchestra was under the direction of Professor H. J. Meyer, formerly of Minneapolis. According to their card, the orchestra offered a "fine repertoir of music for all occasions."

Judging by newspaper announcements, the orchestra existed between 1900-1914 and entertained crowds at balls, dances, banquets, and wedding receptions.

The orchestra existed alongside the popular Cuba City Military Band and shared some musicians in common, including businessman Henry D. Meloy, pictured here in the back with his snare drum, and newspaper editor Herman "Goldy" Goldthorpe, who may be one of the two cornet players seated in front.
